This illustration is based on my recent MA Picture Book project – When the Moon Disappears. Whilst researching the themes of mental health, grief, and trauma, I carried out Art Therapy exercises; an exercise in particular was called ‘Fantasy Landscapes’. This design was a result of the research carried out through this exercise, in particular.

The illustration tells a bittersweet moment, of the protagonist waving goodbye to her imaginary friend and companion, the Inkling.
